Afrosurf Coffee Table Book

Afrosurf is a passion project, and that passion can be felt with every turn of the page. Created by Mami Wata, a Cape Town-based surf brand committed to supporting local economies through the manufacturing of its gear and apparel, the book seeks to share the previously untold story of Africa’s surfing communities. Through a collection of varied and deeply personal contributions—essays, photos, poems, illustrations, playlists, and even recipes—it manages to express a culture and lifestyle in a way that few other books, of any kind, ever accomplish. The images and design are beautiful, but what resonates the most is the creators’ care of surfing and their homeland—all the way through to Mami Wata’s pledge to donate proceeds of the book to African surf-therapy organizations.
