Omega has built its name in rarified air — a place between style and utility, where constant innovation, iconic design and supreme capability have made “Speedmaster” and “Seamaster” revered names in watchmaking. Omega is also the only company that we know of that makes watches officially certified for the heights of space, as well as ocean depths up to 600 crushing meters.
Launched in 1948 to coincide with the brand's 100th anniversary, the OMEGA Seamaster line is the oldest in the current collection. Loosely based on the waterproof wristwatches made for the British military at the end of World War II, the Seamaster was first intended as a robust yet elegant watch for active individuals who wanted a watch for “town, sea and country”. They would later introduce the Professional and Dress variants to make for a diverse line of watches for individuals of a walks of life.
