Crescent Design Works was started in 1974 by Anne Michelson, who had previously worked with iconic outfitter Eddie Bauer to create their first-ever down testing laboratory. Her small made-to-order shop in Seattle quickly developed a cult following of local staying-warm enthusiasts, and caught the attention of Italian and Japanese shops soon thereafter. The Down Puffer Shirt is a highly versatile overshirt with timeless styling well-suited to everyday wear. Thoughtfully constructed with 60/40 weather-resistant shell fabric, stuffed with premium 700+ fill goose down, and made by hand in Seattle—just like they used to.

Anne’s kids, and the kids of CDW’s highly-skilled garment makers, grew up in the factory among bags of down, bolts of fabric, and piles of parkas. From early on, Anne’s kids Annie and Adam were enlisted to help spread fabric, clip threads, and package boxes. Annie, alongside her mom and brother, now runs the factory, which is still proudly based in Seattle. It doesn’t get more family owned and operated than this.
