CES 2016 Editor’s Choice
No, those aren’t the newest Beats you’re looking at, they’re the future of entertainment. Slide on the revolutionary Avegant Glyph, plug in the HDMI cable and in seconds you’ll be immersed in your favorite movie, game or nearly anything you can imagine.
The Glyph is one of those awesome pieces of tech you really need to try to believe. It works its magic by using two eyepieces (and 2 million micromirrors—a technology borrowed from DLP projection in use at theaters worldwide) to project images directly onto your retina. Once we popped our peepers into the super-comfortable eyepieces, an entire new world came alive. The best way we can explain it is that it’s like watching a movie at your favorite theater – if every seat was reserved for you and you could watch anything you wanted.
Since there’s no screen, the Glyph is a total gamechanger for long trips on the plane, at home when it’s “quiet time,” or even at work when no one’s looking (it was research, we swear). Since the Glyph lets you see above and below the visual field, it’s less disorienting than VR devices, and as a result can be worn comfortably for long periods of time. And believe us, once you get it on … to paraphrase Charleton Heston: “From our cold, dead hands!”
