Today we’re pouring out an icy Vic’s ’44 Mai Thai for Aloha Wednesday, which was established in 1948 to allow employees of Hawaii’s city councils to wear Hawaiian or “Aloha” shirts. To celebrate the inspiration for Casual Friday, we’re introducing our favorite Hawaiian shirt maker — Honululu’s Avanti, which has been slinging authentic Hawaiian shirts on the beaches of Waikiki for the past 25 years. We love the fit, fabric, and designs of these light and airy bad boys, and think you will too. Because as everyone from Frank Sinatra to Tom Selleck knows, if God made anything better than the Hawaiian shirt, he definitely kept it for himself. In our spring catalog we paired these new prints with a pair of leather slip-ons for a look as laid back as a swing in a hammock. Mahalo.
