Tommy Atkins was an English bulldog with a weakness for fine whiskey, women, and watches, and over the course of his life, served as a mariner under three different flags.

One day in 1905 when Tommy was in need of a few extra schillings for a stiff pour, he, along with a cabal of bulldogs who were also down on their luck, modeled for pay for an American photographer. Much to their dismay, the photographs made their way to the Library of Congress for our everlasting enjoyment. Herewith, a few photos of Tommy and his cohorts from the day that shall not be named by bulldogs everywhere.
